Notification in advance

The Swedish Coast Guard is responsible for SMC, the Swedish Coast Guard Maritime Clearance, which is a national point of contact for traffic at sea. SMC has a responsibility to receive and study notifications in advance for border control and maritime security.

It is the responsibility of the captain, or the ship owner’s agent (ship-broker), to send notification in advance, according to the Maritime Security Regulations, and a list of crewmembers and passengers, according to the Schengen Borders Code, to SMC, the Swedish Coast Guard Maritime Clearance.
